From the Desk of the General Overseer

Stephen Smith, General OverseerWelcome to The Church of God. We are delighted that you have taken the time to visit us here on the Internet. I encourage you to browse through the information we have made available. It is our desire to be a blessing to you.

The Church of God is fully committed to the Bible, and every member has covenanted to accept and live by its teachings. We embrace the New Testament as our rule of faith, practice, government and discipline. Our desire is to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ and to fulfill Jesus' command, "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you" (Matt. 28:20).

Jesus not only purchased salvation for our souls, He also purchased His Church through the blood He shed on the cross (Acts 20:28). He has preserved it to this day and will soon perfect it and present it to Himself as "a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish" (Ephesians 5:27).

Our former General Overseer, Robert J. Pruitt, offered the following words that I would like to use in inviting you to learn more about The Church of God: "Wherever you are, and whatever your station in life, we want you to know that we love you in the love of Christ, and we want to share with you the message of salvation and eternal life. We have found in the Word of God, the Bible, that there is only one true religion and in the final analysis God will bring all of His disciples, His true sheep, into one body — one fold, one Church. We are committed to this eternal and infallible truth."

May the Lord bless you as you seek to do His will in your life. We are available to answer questions, and we will take your prayer requests to heart. "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen" (2 Corinthians 13:14).
