A Spirit-Filled Revival for Saint Vincent

We are pleased to announce that the island of St. Vincent experienced a wonderful Holy Ghost revival. During March 16-18 Brother Browne and the precious members of the Church in St. Vincent hosted revival services for two communities.  The services were well attended and filled with the rich anointing of God.  There were several testimonies of how God touched the lives of individuals during the revival services.  The final service of the revival was an open-air service in an adjoining community.  Members of the Church handed out tracts and sang worship songs with a message concluding the evening.  There were several of those who gathered during the course of the evening service who came forward asking for prayer.  We trust that the Lord truly touched and changed the hearts of these individuals and will continue to minister to them in the days ahead...

Alabama Holds Altar Ministry Workshop

On February 4th The Church of God in Alabama met together for a special time of training. Our Altar Ministry Workshop was a great blessing. Brother Colin Shuler taught on several subjects including "The Call to the Altar" which spoke about the importance and purpose of the altar, how we should focus our services on the altar, and an admonition to the ministry to never give out the Word of God without also giving the congregation the opportunity to respond in the altar. Several examples were given of how not to give an altar call, as well as encouragement to lead the way for others by consistently spending time in the altar ourselves.

Our second class, "Prepared for the Altar," conveyed the concept of seeking God ahead of time for wisdom and being prepared by prayer and Bible study on foundational Bible doctrines. God doesn't want to use our ignorance, but the preparation and knowledge we have devoted ourselves to obtaining...

Newspaper Profiles Recent Trip of Missionary

When E. Roger Ammons of Cleveland was thrown into a car at gunpoint by four large men and driven to parts unknown in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa, his death was the only thing that appeared to be a certainty.

But as suddenly as death pressed down on his life, his life took hold of his faith, and without ruckus or reason the pastor of The Church of God Southside was suddenly set free. The trip he made to help change lives from March 30 to April 12, had also changed his life and reawakened a lesson he would never forget.

As the general evangelism coordinator for The Church of God, Ammons coordinates the evangelistic outreach for their ministry with its headquarters on Tillie Road in Cleveland. He is sent out of the country once a year to a mission field with a national overseer to conduct revivals in addition to other mission trips.

"Before I went (to the Congo) I was told that they had made arrangements for my time in Kinshasa to stay in the four-star Grand Hotel...

Regional Overseer James Smith is grateful to report the establishment of a new church in New Rochelle, New York. New Rochelle is a suburb of New York City. The local congregation was established on Saturday, November 15, 2008 with two members.

Brother Smith has announced that Sister Pearline Taylor, who has been a female evangelist for over thirty years, will serve as the pastor of the local church. Additionally, Brother Smith states, "God provided the opportunity to meet with many others on a second trip to New York City, and we have great hopes of receiving yet others into the Fold in the near future."

E. Roger Ammons, overseer of Michigan, is pleased to report the purchase of a church property in Niles, MI. The building has over 5,100 square feet. The church was able to secure a $50,000 land contract with no interest or down payment. Payments are only $250 per month, and a final balloon payment is due in ten years. We thank God for His goodness in providing this property.

On Saturday, April 12, 2008, a new local church was established in Lawrence, MA (a northern suburb of Boston) with four new members. These include the pastor and his wife, Jose & Deloris Zorrilla, and another minister and his wife Vilvio and Marguarita Alcantera. Both brothers are evangelists and their wives are lay ministers. They have been serving the Lord for many years beginning in the Dominican Republic and now in the United States of America. This is a kernel to which many more members will be added. Some twenty people have been meeting wth Brother Zorrilla in their home and in rented facilities when available. These precious people are primarily from the Dominican Republic and have many contacts in their home country. We are already reaching out to other groups/ministers in the New England area.

During a concluding prayer of consecration for them and their work, the Holy Ghost gloriously blessed them confirming His pleasure with their joining and His divine blessing and anointing for their labor...
