Encouraging Reports of Growth from Zambia

With the blessings of God, The Church of God of Zambia is moving forward under the leadership of National Overseer, Bishop Alfred Nsofwa. This was witnessed firsthand by the General Mission Coordinator in his recent trip to this African nation (December 11-15). For three days the saints met together for a time of instruction, worship and fellowship. Before the main message in each service, Brother Nsofwa taught lessons using Sunday School materials, stating that these have a great effect upon our people. Most importantly, the Word touches the hearers' lives. In addition, the National Overseer stated that the lessons help the members feel a part of The Church of God worldwide and that they carry more "weight" than a lesson that is put together by a local teacher alone. Messages about repentance, sanctification, and marriage and divorce were preached and a time for questions and answers was given after some of the lessons. The saints cheered as they heard the truth about the indissolubility of a valid marriage (Zambi...

National Convention Held in Swaziland

The theme of the National Convention (Dec. 3-5) was "Take Root Downward, and Bear Fruit Upward" (Isaiah 37:31) – and that is exactly what The Church of God in Swaziland has been doing since it was reorganized a few years ago. Over one hundred people from all over the country attended this well-organized event in a rural area named Dlangeni. They came on dangerous, rough, muddy roads with their mats and blankets and with hearts ready to worship God and fellowship. How precious it was to hear and see Brother Makati Esau Dlamini, almost 71 years old, preach with tears in his eyes about The Church of God, which he has known and loved for many years. The saints budgeted their funds carefully, and the Lord stretched the resources to feed and transport many. Appreciated by all was National Field Secretary and Pastor, Lemmy E. Shandu, which played a great part in the organi...

Print Shop Manager Retires

Walter G. Lofton has given thirty-five years of service to General Headquarters, approximately seventeen and one-half in the Church of God of Prophecy and another seventeen and one-half in The Church of God. That is a long time, but Brother Lofton has given much more than time. He has truly given of himself. His heart and soul have been in his work. He has served primarily in the publishing department, but has also served as General Treasurer and has written books that have been a great blessing to the Church and continue to bless those who read them.

Brother Lofton has had the privilege of serving in one of the greatest ministries ever created, the printing of the Gospel message. He has produced thousands, perhaps millions, of tracts that have been scattered all over the world. The Evening Light, Sunday School literature, and other materials have gone to the ends of the earth, edifying the Church and reaching new people for Christ...
