International Youth Camp 2015 was a wonderful success with the help and presence of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The one hundred and one delegates were greatly blessed by God as we gathered August 14-17. The theme given to the camp “One or the Other” was taken from James 4:4 “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” We were encouraged through the different classes and messages that as Christians we must choose God or the world for God is not willing to share our affections with the things of the world.
IYC was blessed to have wonderful messages preached in our evening services by some of our National Overseers. On Friday night Brother George Forbes, Bahamas/Cayman/Turks and Caicos Islands, brought the message with the title of “In Not Of” from John 17:15, 16. It was a wonderful reminder that the heart of God is that His Church work in the world but not become tainted by it. On Saturday night Brother Mariano Mico, Equatorial Guinea, preached on the topic “Greater is He” from 1 John 4:4. The Holy Ghost used him to encourage the camp that God’s power within us is greater than the power of the enemy in this world. On Sunday evening the IYC Director ministered on the theme of the camp. Each of our services ended with times of sincere prayer as the campers, staff and Overseers humbly and hungrily sought the Lord. The prayer times were lengthy and powerful as we poured our hearts out to God and asked Him to have His way in our lives. All of our evening devotions were taken from 1 John 2:15, 16 and reminded us that we are to love not the things of the world.
As always the IYC Staff came prayed up and well prepared to present their classes and devotions. We are so blessed to have such a dedicated staff with great love for the camping ministry of The Church of God. My wife and I would like to thank each person that served on staff, you were a great blessing and help to the camp, as well as every camper that attended. In addition it was a blessing for our Overseers, their spouses and many of our Headquarters personnel to be in attendance. If you are a Camp Director or a National, State or local VLB Director begin making plans now to attend IYC next year. If you are not sure of the details you can contact your Overseer or the VLB Coordinator. Also Camp Directors and Committees begin seeking God that He will give you worthy representatives from your camps in this Assembly year.
