Jonathan R. Smith Receives Eternal Reward

Bishop Jonathan Smith was born March 28, 1975 and went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2017.

Jonathan Smith received Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord in 1985. In the same year he received the experience of sanctification and was baptized with the Holy Ghost. Brother Smith joined the Church of God of Prophecy in 1987. He renewed his covenant at the Solemn Assembly in 1993.

Brother Smith was licensed into the ministry in 1995, and he served as pastor for a number of years. He was ordained as a bishop at the General Assembly in 2011 and served as Regional Overseer of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and West Texas for three years. At the time of his promotion to heaven, Brother Smith was serving as the State Overseer of Texas and as a committeeman on the Questions & Subjects Committee. He also served on the Church Literature Review Committee.

He and his wife, Emilee, have eight children: Nathan, Caleb, Luke, Abigail, Ezekiel, Lydia, Linus and Seth.

Prayers are requested for Brother Smith’s wife, children, and other family members, that God will give them special grace and comfort during this time of sorrow.

The family will receive friends and family during the viewing from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at McNett Funeral Home (705 North Main Street, Andrews, TX 79714). Burial will follow at the Andrews Cemetery at 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at The Church of God in Andrews, TX (201 NW 4th Street, Andrews, TX 79714) at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to The Church of God, P.O. Box 2152, Andrews, TX 79714 to help the Smith family with funeral expenses.
