Prayers Requested for State Overseer of Texas

Brother Jonathan Smith, State Overseer of Texas, is seriously ill and needs divine intervention. He has put his trust in the Lord for his healing. The family would be grateful for the prayers of the saints of The Church of God.

Brother Smith is very weak and respectfully requests that contact be made via text with his mother, Vicki Smith, or his sister, Rebekah Horne, in lieu of direct contact with him and his wife. They will do their best to answer when possible. Thank you to all for your understanding.

Let us all join together in fervent prayer for Brother Smith and trust in the promise of the Word of God: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Greetings from the Interim Overseer

Greetings brothers and sisters of The Church of God! Many prayers and well wishes have come from all over the world for me and my family. We have been blessed by the warmth and love from each of you. As you know, much work lies ahead and my focus is turned to our upcoming General Assembly. I wish I could answer each message personally. Please accept this heartfelt thanks from us for every prayer you have prayed and will be praying for us as we endeavor to do the will of God. Thank you and we hope to see you at the 110th Annual General Assembly!

Bishop Oscar Pimentel
Interim General Overseer

Oscar Pimentel Selected as Interim Overseer

As instructed by the General Assembly of The Church of God, the State/Regional and National Overseers met together July 3-7, 2015 to choose an Interim Overseer to serve until the selection of a General Overseer is made at the upcoming Assembly.

After several days of worship, prayer, and deliberation, the Overseers unanimously selected Bishop Oscar Pimentel to serve as Interim Overseer. Let us all pray for Brother Pimentel as he serves Christ and His Church in this role.

All members of the Church are encouraged to spend time praying and fasting for the upcoming General Assembly. This year's Assembly is scheduled for August 18-23, 2015. Let us each pray that, when we gather together, we can find the mind of God for the selection of General Overseer. Let it be said during and after the Assembly that the Body of Christ solemnly and joyfully agrees,"...it seemed good to the Holy Ghost and us..." (Acts 15:28) in that we have found God's perfect will for The Church of God.

General Overseer's Secretary Retires

Gayle Brooks celebrated her nineteenth year of employment to General Headquarters of The Church of God on April 24, 2014. The next day she was honored with a retirement party. Lunch was served at General Headquarters to Sister Gayle and all current and former employees who were able to attend. A plaque was presented that had Hebrews 6:10 included, "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."

Sister Gayle came to work for the first time on April 24, 1995, for the Sunday School Department to do the layout and design for our Sunday School literature. She soon was doing layout and design of tracts. She did general typesetting as needed, and served as Coordinator for the Sunday School Review Committee for several years until being moved into the position of private secretary to the General Overseer. Her work as Brother Pruitt's secretary started around November 2000 and continued until his retireme...
