Brother Nainngolan, National Overseer of Indonesia, has received information about churches belonging to other Christian groups being burned in the Aceh province on Tuesday, October 13th. Several news agencies, including BBC World News, reported that hundreds of Muslim men attacked and burned three churches. The group threatened to burn other churches in the area if their services continue. Nearly three thousand residents of the province have fled and sought refuge away from the area.
It is reported that our local congregation is worrying that the same action will be taken against them. Brother Nainngolan has encouraged the church that although the Muslim people may burn and destroy their building they cannot destroy their faith in Jesus Christ. He reminded them that the true temple is our life.
The World Mission Department is requesting that all members of the Church around the world lift up the church in Aceh in prayer. God is able to provide protection for these people and their property! “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee” (Isaiah 43:2)
