Successful Revival Held in Jamaica

North America

On February 27, 2016 World Mission Coordinator Robert Hawkins and Sister Hawkins arrived in Old Harbour, Jamaica to spend 10 days of outreach and ministering in this Caribbean island country that once flourished for Christ and His Church. The trip was made at the inspiration of God and the request of Evangelist Armena Taylor Harrison of England, who was born and raised in Jamaica (as were some other of the saints in England) and still has a residence there.

Sister Taylor Harrison secured a church facility within walking distance of her home and thought provoking advertisements were placed in The Sunday Gleaner, a national newspaper with a readership of several hundred thousand. Our General Headquarters Media Department, headed-up by Brother Grayson Kent, ran internet ads that brought much attention to the revival and to The Church of God. Local advertisement was done by a vehicle with loudspeakers going through the dirt road neighborhood and Brother and Sister Hawkins handed out a few hundred flyers and spoke with people on the main street in Old Harbour.

The revival was held at the Mt. Olive Fire Baptized Church of the Americas in Marlie Acres. The pastor and her husband, Sister and Brother Barton, supported the revival with their congregation, the local community came out, and those that once knew The Church of God heard the truth preached again. As a result of the outreach, Brother Hawkins was invited to preach twice at a Church of God of Prophecy and one of the services was videotaped by the pastor to be put on television. A sister who strongly believes in the sanctity of marriage and was looking for a people who believe the same way heard about the visit of our representatives and came to one of the services with her son. As the Word of God went forth and the power of the Holy Ghost fell, she danced in the Spirit and shouted and praised God! She has asked for permission to carefully and prayerfully distribute our materials on divorce and remarriage in various church and community meetings and has invited Brother Hawkins to speak at a marriage conference later this year.

Calls and visits from various parts of the island were received during and after the Hawkins’ trip to Jamaica, thousands of tracts were distributed, Evening Lights shared, Church books were sold like hotcakes and most importantly, souls were saved, sanctified and touched by the Word, the Spirit, and the love of God! There is much more important and exciting news to tell, but we will just say that, God willing, we plan to go back before the General Assembly! Please keep all of this in your prayers. The Devil will fight, but our God is the Almighty God! Let’s win Jamaica for The Church of God!
