On May 21, 2021 The Church of God of Yemen was organized with five members! This was an historic and momentous day for The Church of God – for first time since the Arise, Shine of The Church of God in 1903, the Body of Christ is operating in this Middle Eastern Country. It is also the first time that the Church was established in another country via electronic means, specifically video link, with the blessing of our General Assembly’s recommendation.
We would like to thank Brothers Grayson Kent and Kryss Barick for assisting with the technical aspects of this meeting to help make it a success! Our pastor of Sana’a, Yemen (Brother Ahmed) lives in Egypt, and was taken into The Church of God in September of 2019 when our World Mission Coordinator and General CPMA Coordinator visited the country. Brother Ahmed knows the brethren in Yemen well, as he pastored them when he lived in Yemen but was forced to flee with his family and go to Egypt as a refugee due to threats on their lives. Pastor Ahmed has remained true to the calling of Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd, and has cared for the brethren long distance the best that he can. We are also thankful that the World Mission Department was able to send three of the brethren from Yemen to Egypt to spend several days with Brother Ahmed in fellowship and teaching and training in November of 2020. And The Church of God of Sana’a Yemen is the result of what God has done! Amen!
Please pray for our brethren in Yemen – they need and greatly desire your prayers. They live in an environment that is very hostile to Christianity and risk their lives everyday for the sake of the gospel. May our good and great God protect them, bless them, and help them to shine as lights in a lost and dying world! Amen!
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).
