Membership Gathers for National Convention in El Salvador

Guatajiagua, El Salvador, about a three-hour drive east of San Salvador, was the place for the National Convention of The Church of God in this Central American country. Looming 25 miles in the distance, at approximately 7,000 feet, is the Chapparastique volcano, which last erupted in November of 2022. But thank God, the only eruptions that occurred December 13-15, 2024, were the praises to God in the weekend’s meetings! Bishop Reynaldo Moncada, National Overseer, led the attendees in the theme “Following the Truth in Love,” taken from Ephesians 4:15. World Missions Coordinator Bishop Robert Hawkins was the guest speaker, and Brother David Membreno of Alabama served faithfully as interpreter. The Holy Ghost blessed, tears flowed, and the congregation freely worshipped the Lord!

The work in El Salvador is small, but growing under the leadership of Bishop Moncada, who left his home country of Honduras several years ago to live and work in El Salvador, and God is blessing our brother and his family for their sacrifice. He always does and always will when we step out in faith in our work for Christ and The Church of God!

At the end of the National Convention, two new members, a husband and wife, joined themselves to God’s true Church in “a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten” (Jer. 50:5). How beautiful it was to see these dear souls being welcomed home by the saints of God!

The Missions Department would like to thank everyone, especially all our WMB ladies, especially Sister Moncada and Brother David Arturo Velis Aguilar, for all their hard work in making the Convention and the fellowship a blessing for everyone!

The saints in El Salvador are in the beginning stages of building a National Tabernacle that will hold several hundred people and will also be utilized by the local church. They have already purchased a nice piece of land within the city limits and have made some progress in preparing the foundation and the land, but they have a long way to go and much work to do. It is estimated that approximately $60,000 will enable them to build a structure safe enough for them to begin using (although not completely finished).

Please remember this building project in your prayers and that The Church of God in El Salvador will shine brilliantly as a witness of the life and eternity-changing gospel of Jesus Christ!
