Shoulder to Shoulder: Striving Together for the Tabernacle

Shoulder to Shoulder: Striving Together for the Tabernacle

“So built we the wall, and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work” (Nehemiah 4:6).

The phrase “they had a mind to work” describes the dedication of the Israelites as they rebuilt Jerusalem’s wall, signifying their enthusiastic willingness and commitment to the task, even reaching half its height, showing great progress because they were eager to participate in God’s restorative work. They were not forced to work, but they genuinely desired to engage in the challenging labor of rebuilding their city’s defenses. It shows unified effort and teamwork towards a common goal. Reaching “half the height” signifies significant progress achieved through consistent effort and a steadfast heart for the work. This verse is often used to symbolize believers’ active, committed participation in God’s work, moving beyond mere intention to diligent action.

This text gives zeal for the work of the Lord that we have ahead of us. It provides inspiration that nothing is impossible when we are “Shoulder to Shoulder and Striving Together.”

The Assembly Band Movement has been tasked with praying for the Tabernacle project. The following are specific prayers to pray each month for the new year!

January: Pray for the committees involved in the Tabernacle Project (Administrative, Building, Advancement, Ways & Means, General Properties, etc.) and for our General Overseer.

February: Pray for the “I Love The Church of God” Campaign, and pray for our nations that are raising funds for the Tabernacle. Pray for $1 million and more!

March: – Pray for our fundraising campaigns. Pray for a team of skilled workers.

April: Pray for current construction activities.

May: Pray that many members complete the “10 for $100” campaign before the Assembly.

June: Pray for successful Heritage Month fundraising.

July: Pray for the General Assembly and that the Lord will bless us with an Assembly in our own tabernacle soon!

I ask that each band leader encourage their band to pray with the same zeal and inspiration felt in Nehemiah 4:6, and together we will see the tabernacle project advance!
