In Loving Memory: Shawn H. Womack

It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Brother Shawn H. Womack, who went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
Brother Womack faithfully served God for many years, giving of himself in ministry, leadership, and service. At the time of his passing, he was an active member of the Communications Department Committee, Sunday School Editorial Committee, and Church Literature Review Committee. His wisdom, commitment, and servant’s heart made a lasting impact on these ministries. He also served faithfully as a wise teacher in many International Youth Camps, sharing his passion for cabin leading.
Born on October 4, 1963, Brother Womack experienced salvation, sanctification, and the baptism with the Holy Ghost on September 1, 1986. Answering God’s call to ministry, he was set forth as a lay minister on January 1, 2006, and received his minister’s license on December 18, 2007.
Throughout his years of ministry, Brother Womack served with humility and dedication. He pastored The Church of God in Collinsville, Alabama, for two years before being appointed to Marion, Virginia, where he faithfully shepherded the congregation for sixteen years until his passing. At other times in his ministry, he served as a local and state Bible Training Institute booster, Sunday School teacher, and camp director, investing in the spiritual growth of others and encouraging future generations in their walk with God.
More than his many accomplishments, Brother Womack will be remembered as a man of sincere faith who loved God, loved the Church, and loved his family. His life reflected Christian character, compassion, and steadfast commitment.
Brother Womack is survived by his wife, Crystal, and their children, Hannah, Sarah, Daniel, Caleb, and Rachel. We ask the Church family to join in prayer for the Womack family, asking God to grant His peace, strength, and comfort during this time of loss.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM EDT on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at The Church of God in Marion, Virginia (559 Friendly Circle, Marion, VA 24354), with Billy Cox, Jeremy Wallace, and Paul Horton officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the church prior to the service.
As we remember Brother Womack’s life and legacy, we take comfort in the promise of Scripture: “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:15).
